Bottom line: Happy Hugo is a foreign operator without a Belgian licence. In short, this is worth it as long as you respect the limits.

On payments, Belgium leaves little choice: you deposit with the Bancontact card or the app, while the withdrawal arrives by transfer. Payconiq by Bancontact was renamed Bancontact Pay in March 2026.

Bancontact Pay caps at €1500 per transaction and €2500 per day. Deposits land instantly; budget one to three working days on the bank side for the payout, plus the time the operator itself takes to process the request.

What is asked at registration

Opening an account varies little: name, date of birth and documents, before anything is paid out. Have your identity card and a recent address document ready.

Language cover is a lottery, and the regulator has no say in the outcome. Archive what you receive about deposits and withdrawals; that is what remains if a discussion ever arises.

Limits, age and EPIS

The rules on player protection here run above the European average in strictness with effects you cannot route around. Each site automatically applies a €200 weekly ceiling.

The EPIS system is the regulator's central exclusion list: after registration no licensed operator grants you access. The entry point is the Gaming Commission. The bar has stood at 21 since 1 September 2024, lottery aside; lottery products are the exception at 18. The bar is statutory, not a house rule.

FAQ

No. Happy Hugo holds no Belgian licence and appears on the Gaming Commission's black list. It takes two clicks to verify. The list is public on gamingcommission.be.

No — gambling winnings fall outside personal income tax. This has been the Belgian rule for years. The operator remits the levy, not the player.

€200 per week per site by default. Lowering it is immediate; raising it needs a check and a delay. You set it in your account settings. Raising it always takes time, even when the request goes through.

You register with EPIS. It works nationally and immediately. The register is not publicly searchable. It is the strongest brake Belgium offers.
